Girls enjoying their Caribbean vacation

Much of the parents’ joy comes from seeing the kids’ joy and joy with each other.

Our 2006 wedding in NYC

Our family started here, June 10, 2006 at Blessed Sacrament Church in New York City.  Little did we know at the time, but our destiny and fate was to bring two daughters into this world and journey with them in the literal and figurative sense.

As Thanksgiving vacations go, this one was special.

Play del Carmen provided a warmer locale than Southern Connecticut.  Here, the girls are splashing around in our balcony not-so-hot tub.

Our eldest in Gordes, Provence

This was an extra special trip because of the number of friends we joined and met.  We stayed at a villa near Aix with 19 other friends and acquaintences.  And by the end, it felt like we were all one family.

"Kids camp" is a great concept.

Our Dominican Republic visit proved to be even more relaxing with an occasional break for just Mom and Dad.

Rowing in Parque del Retiro, Madrid

Set near The Prado museum is a beautiful park with an opportunity to enjoy the scenery and my travel partner.  We also enjoyed an ideal wine & cheese picnic.

Jazz festival, Montreal

Julian’s mother was from Montreal, Quebec.  We visited aunts, uncles and cousins while also taking in the jazz festival during the summer warm weather.  The weather was well managed with the addition of a little Stella Artois.

Wedding in Warsaw

Our youngest being shepherded by her mother.  Always curious and always independent, she approaches the wed couple.

Recent fiancé flashing her new jewelry.

After an amazing concert at Scuola Grande di San Rocco came the proposal.  And, well, the rest is history…

Our new COMPLETE family

Our daughters now have a grandmother, the birthmother of Julian.  It fulfills us every day.

Natalia's 9 Tips & Tricks For Packing and Traveling.

Packing is a skill that’s easy to pick up and emulate.  However, packing is also personal.  Ultimately, it’s about prioritizing your own needs, based on limited capacity.  This involves what climate you will be experiencing, what activities you like to participate in and what your personal style is.  Here are some of Natalia’s ideas on packing that has helped her be both efficient as well as enjoy her travel experience…

Our Core Values

We Henkins value sustainability, diversity, humility and wellness.  Our education of the above is often sourced through our travel experiences.  Travel gives us entré to the global community of citizens.  We see the impact of living in more and less sustainable ways; we view the beauty and a universal quality of humanity found throughout cultures and communities despite great diversity. Our broadened view gives us an appreciation of our circumstances and the humility that should accompany.  And we recognize that people’s health is paramount, and we attempt to lift up our own as well as that of others so that the joys of life can be better appreciated.

Sustainability

Sustainability is living in a way that is consistant with continuing in perpetuity.  Sustainability can apply to managing waste, relationships, businesses…almost anything and everything.

Diversity

Diversity is about embracing the differences in people recognizing that those differences are small compared to the similarity of the human experience and our shared goals.

Humility

Humility is taking in the broad view of the diversity of circumstances, and feeling fortunate, but not better…luckier, rather than entitled.

Wellness

Wellness is the recognition that this short trip of life is made better when experiencing it in good health.  And that good health comes from a healthy lifestyle.
